Robert Marshall Utley

Robert Marshall Utley is an American historian who has written sixteen books concerning the history of the American West. His works often focus on the theme of the American Army during the country's expansion toward the Pacific, and typically outlines their confrontations with Indian tribes.

He is a former chief historian for the National Park Service, and has served in the U.S. Military himself. He has been designated the Samuel Eliot Morison Prize for his efforts as well as had another award named after him by the Western History Association.
